Preserve Life

Sewee Preserve is an excellent example of how conservation and development can go hand in hand, simultaneously serving the needs of conservationists and homeowners. The result is a working balance between the needs of the environment and the people who live here.

Over 80% of the property at Sewee Preserve is protected from development.  Wetlands, plant communities and wildlife habitat have been set aside in a conservation easement, guaranteeing permanent protection for all species.  This concerted effort maintains the natural environment for property owner dwellings, as well as the preserve.

The neighborhood has a conservation easement with Ducks Unlimited and a partnership with the Center for Birds of Prey. Amenities include a 40-acre spring fed lake, which is the largest in Charleston County, for kayaking and fishing with two freshwater docks and a storage area for kayaks/canoes. Along the water’s edge is an outdoor picnic table that is covered, a lake house with a kitchen and fireplace, and an outdoor firepit with benches. There are 12 miles of trails, a 6-acre horse pasture that has a two-stall paddock, a 4-acre farm, and a recently expanded saltwater dock.
